2013 was another year of growth and opportunity in the plastic surgery world. We saw breast augmentation as the leading procedure performed for yet another year and this was followed closely by rhinoplasty, eyelid surgery, liposuction, and facelifts.
Breast augmentation showed an increase in the numbers performed last year possibly due to the FDA approval of form stable “gummy bear” implants. Fat grafting to augment breast volume is also becoming more popular and was also on the rise.
A new player is the rapid rise of the Brazilian butt lift as the most “increased” procedure for 2013. The procedure which involves liposuction to harvest fat and transfer to the buttocks was up 16% compared to 2012. Perhaps America is literally trying to keep up with the Kardashians?
