This patient from Austin, Texas came to see our doctors at the Round Rock, Texas plastic surgery practice for breast reconstruction after being diagnosed with a breast cancer and learning that she was going to have to undergo a mastectomy. Her breast reconstruction involved several stages: initially an expander was placed at the time of mastectomy, after expanding her breasts over about two months the expanders were removed and a silicone breast implant was placed, two months after this nipples were reconstructed, and finally autologous fat transfer (AFT) was used to add fullness and shape to the upper breast using fat harvested via liposuction from the abdomen. This is similar to the BRAVA technique also offered at synergy plastic surgery using autologous fat transfer (BRAVA-AFT) but also uses implants rather than fat grafting alone.
