Reconstruction - Breast Cancer Before & After Case 243

This 41-year-old female came to see our doctors to discuss breast reconstruction options. She had been diagnosed with breast cancer and wanted to pursue reconstruction after a planned nipple sparing mastectomy in Austin, Texas.

Our doctorsmet with her for about an hour on her initial visit. He showed her pictures and discussed options. She had a small breast and wanted to stay about the same size. Given the size and location of her tumor a single stage reconstruction option (skipping the expander phase and placing an implant during the mastectomy) was possible.

This photo shows the patient several months after her single operation. She is very satisfied with her outcome. Her incision is about 3.5 inches long and well hidden in the fold of her breasts. Her mastectomy was nipple sparing so she will not need additional nipple reconstruction.
