This patient from near Austin, Texas came to our doctors at the Round Rock, Texas plastic surgery practice for breast reconstruction after being diagnosed with breast cancer and learning that she was going to have to undergo a mastectomy. He worked with her general surgeon to arrange a time for initial surgery and then he admitted her to the hospital for a few days after surgery.

Her breast reconstruction involved three stages: initially an expander was placed at the time of mastectomy, after expanding her breasts over about two months the expanders were removed and a silicone breast implant was placed, two months after this nipples were reconstructed.

While this patient chose a very alternative approach to areolar tattooing the results are still unique and beautiful. Most patients opt for an areolar tattoo that most closely matched their native breast.

Overall the size and shape of her reconstructed breasts fit her body very well and she is tremendously happy to have both her new breasts and her feminine shape for the years ahead.
