What to Expect
Our doctors perform brow lift and eyelid surgery as outpatient procedures using general anesthesia in our private, state-of-the-art surgery center. They prefer to perform brow lift as a minimally invasive endoscopic procedure because it requires only tiny incisions and less recovery time. The incisions are concealed in the upper eyelid crease and inside the lower eyelid or along the lower lash line.
After your surgery, elevating your head as much as possible (even while sleeping) will minimize swelling and bruising. You will likely be able to resume light activity within 7 to 10 days; but, you will need to avoid more strenuous activity, including vigorous exercise, for at least the first month.

I wear contact lenses. What special precautions do I need to take after surgery?
You won’t be able to wear your contacts for at least 1 week following eyelid surgery, and possibly longer. During your consultation, your doctor gives you a more accurate timeline for your anticipated recuperation. It’s best to switch to glasses to allow your eyelids to heal undisturbed.
How can I maintain my results as long as possible?
Although the results of plastic surgery don’t last forever, there are plenty of ways you can prolong your results and stave off the signs of aging for as long as possible. Our doctors’ top recommendations include:
- Sun protection: Good sun protection becomes doubly important after plastic surgery. In the immediate weeks after your blepharoplasty or brow lift, keeping your incisions out of the sun will ensure they heal to discreet scars. Incorporating regular sunscreen application into your usual skincare routine will help maintain your skin’s resiliency and keep your eyes looking their best. Wearing sunglasses can also help prevent crow’s feet and other crinkles that form around the eyes.
- At-home skin care: A good at-home regimen is the foundation of healthy skin. Make sure you use a gentle cleanser at least once a day and completely remove all of your makeup each night. Keep your skin adequately moisturized, and consider using a product that features validated anti-aging ingredients such as retinol, peptides, and antioxidants.
- A smoke-free lifestyle: Smoking has a negative impact on nearly every one of the body’s tissues, including the skin. By restricting blood flow to the skin, smoking can lead to premature aging and a sallow, discolored appearance, effectively undoing your surgical results. If you smoke, make every effort to kick the habit at least a few months before surgery. If you don’t smoke, be sure to keep it that way.
